The primary focus at Smith Professional Search is recruiting human resources and accounting professionals with experience levels varying from professional staff to high level senior executives. Personal Profile

Susan Smith, SPHR began her professional recruiting career in 1984 with a large national search firm and in 1992 launched Smith Professional Search. In her previous career, she worked in operational and management positions with AT&T and at Citicorp’s Advance Mortgage Corporation. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Wayne State University with a major in Personnel and Industrial Relations.

In 1998, Susan was certified by the Society for Human Resource Management as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Susan is actively involved with various committees of the 900+ member Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit and served as President of the Association in 2003–4. The Michigan State Council of SHRM appointed her to the role of Eastern District Director for 2005–8. In 2004 she was invited to join one of SHRM’s National Expertise Panels, Staffing Management, for a three-year term. Her involvement on this 12 person Panel included participation on a team to predict and report HR trends, as well as providing subject matter expertise for pending and current legislation, and writing on various HR topics. In May, 2005, SHRM published a White Paper she co-authored on Outsourced Staffing. The paper is available on the SHRM web site.
